  I Am David Laing brings this soulful heartfelt song to your ears and it grips you from the moment it begins.  Starting out with what sounds like an eery electronic key accompanied by a soft vocals 'Ooh's', setting that intimate stripped back atmosphere.  Immediately you are pulled right into David's voice and the lyrics, there is a vulnerability, a heartache as he sings "I wanted to be there" an introspective promise he is making to himself as well as outwardly letting the world know, almost torn between a sense of hope and heartbreak.  Accompanied with a piano, really heightens that emotion and through out the song David takes you on that sentimental journey with him and pulls at your heartstrings.  The piano provides that comfort, simple chords intertwined with melodic moments that provide that warmth within the track.  The subtle use of an ambient background, the very faint synth pad that lingers throughout brings that chilling element to the track, as we
