FOUNTAIN ISLAND - GIRL YOU GOT ME // SINGLE REVIEW

Fountain Island a Pop Punk band from Newbury, really do know how to deliver on those catchy 2000s pop punk sounds, that is an injection of nostalgia.  Having had a listen to some of their earlier music, these guys stay true to that their pop punk sound but with a slight hint of emo.  Their latest single 'Girl You Got Me' is no different and the song fires right into that danceable energetic chorus, giving us a taste of what to expect in the song.  There is something that I do love about a song that opens with the chorus as this is an instant attention grabber and sets the pace of the song, making you not want to turn it off.  The drums drive the chorus with the guitars tightly following, and those little melodic moments in the guitars are deliberately placed behind the vocals to bring that vibrancy and depth which gives that surging energy that continuously builds through out, the vocals are crisp and clear which will easily get stuck in your head, especially with  the melody, the band describe the song as a  "jilted love song about falling for someone who doesn't fall back as hard" but has an uplifting almost feel good sound but heartbreak undertones.  This is a track that is guaranteed to get you out of your seat and moving to the dance floor.  They may be a 3-piece band but they have huge sound, that could fill arenas and guaranteed to get the crowd in the palm of their hands.
