Róisín McCarney took to the stage on Thursday 29th August, this was her first live performance since the singer underwent surgery to beat stage 3 cancer and the headline gig. There was dancing, there were some tears and it certainly was a very special night. Support also came from Lori, Amy Louise & The Too Late.
Kicking things off was the incredibly talented Lori alongside her bandmates Heather, James & Ryan. Setting the tone for what was to be a spectacular night of music and making sure the crowds energy was high. Performing a full band rendition of 'Impossible' a Nothing But Thieves cover, which got the crowd going. As well as an electric performance of her latest track 'Patience' a pop rock track that builds into a very catchy song with a guitar solo that will get you bopping along to.

Amy Louise took to the stage afterwards performing singles 'Chance' and then taking the vibe into a more club like sound with her dance track 'Games' bringing that deep ambient dance sound and the crowd vibing along with her. She then performs 2 covers one from Dua Lipa and then slows it down with a cover of 'Who you are' by Jessie J, performing her most recent release 'Best Friend' which again got the crowd dancing and vibing with her. Amy then gave everyone a taster of her upcoming release 'Change'. A fantastic and captivating performance from the singer and the crowd certainly enjoyed the set.
The 3rd support act of the night was the energetic set from the indie pop band The Too Late, performing their electrifying songs 'One Hit Love' which I really enjoyed the mash up of Robin S 'Show Me Love'. The band continued with the energy, for the entire set, performing their own tracks from their EP 'Sunday Lovin' and a Simple Minds cover of 'Don't You (Forget About Me). 'Hope I Never See You Again' and 'Just Don't Tell Me', injecting that catchy sound that the band are known for and it resonated with the crowd. captivating vocals & guitar solos through out and with their atmospheric pop sound the band had the crowd completely hooked
Onto the headliner of the night Róisín McCarney, who amped up the already energised crowd, flying right into the set performing 'Car Chase' the 80s esque song that captured the crowd instantly. Moving through the set with a liveliness that, you could see radiating through and the pure happiness from Róisín as she is back the place where she belongs and that is on the stage, doing what she does best. The crowd reciprocating that same happiness and liveliness. She played a cover of 'Filthy/Gorgeous' by the Scissor Sisters. The singer then showing her dynamic musical style and how she can switch it up dipping into different genres with a rockier sound, as she performed 'Mr Right Now' and 'Dancing with the Devil'. Róisín then stripped it back for a few songs as she sat down at the piano and spoke to the crowd on her journey back since her diagnosis, she then sang a very heartfelt, emotionally charged song that had the crowd gripped to every word she was singing. An Oasis cover followed as she got the everyone involved in a singalong of 'Don't Look Back in Anger'. For the final few songs of the night she moved back into the high energy tracks with a performance of her 2022 single 'Sidelines' a lighter sound with a more indie pop feeling. For the final songs of the night Róisín performed 'Villain' and getting herself right in amongst the crowd with this one and getting everyone bouncing with her. She then closed out the night with her latest single 'The Juggler' and the energy after 'Villian' was high but this song definitely blew the roof off the place and finishing the set off in style and had the crowd right in the palm of her hand. Róisín is a definite one to watch in the Scottish Music Scene, we will definitely be hearing more and more from her as this is only the beginning and I look forward to watching her journey.
