JACK HINKS - PLASTERCAST
Jack returns with new single 'Plastercast', the latest song in his series of releases where he tasked himself to write a song representing each stage of grief. The first single 'Jigsaw' symbolised acceptance, which took a blues direction, 'Plastercast' takes the form of 'anger' adopting a heavier rock style.
The track starts off with light instrumentation from the acoustic guitar and an eerie violin sound that lingers above for a short time coming in and out, we are then introduced to Jack's deep vocals, the heartfelt passion oozes through his rich tone as the emotional lyrics dive into frustration, abandonment and redemption. Jack is then accompanied by Fiona Liddell who accentuates the anguished response to Jack, the contrast of low and high tones really brings out the expressive feelings and heightens the intensity of atmosphere. There is then a burst of sound when the song hits an abrupt wall of heavy guitar riffs and vigorous drums, the change in pace from the subdued acoustic style to the intense rock really allows you to feel what the song is conveying musically and the story Jack is telling lyrically.
The melodic harmonies between Jack and Fiona melt into each other, complimenting one another so well and they send shiver down your spine. The deep intense feelings, the smooth delivery of jacks vocals, the harmonising with Fiona, the intense crescendos and impeccable lyricism this is definitely a track that will stick with you.
