DISTANT IMAGES - ECHOES (SINGLE REVIEW)

The Glasgow based duo Jilly and Macca better known as Distant Images return with there latest single dreamy electronic single 'Echoes', which is the second follow up single to their EP 'A Vision of Us'.  If you are someone who enjoys dream pop, with a slice of electronic and indie pop mixed in between then you need to get to know this duo.

'Echoes' begins with a swirl of synths of guitars, with reverse melodies that builds in a sudden motion and opens into an atmospheric verse.  The double vocals from Jilly and Macca creates a hauntingly beautiful effect that gets right inside your head, the instrumentation remains airy as it floats around the vocals and adds to the spacious atmosphere.  The track then becomes more dense as it dives into a deep electronic section, with the addition of a low pulsating synth and bass line that just completely takes over your ears and you feel it right at your core.  The track gets more intense as it progresses, we then hear the introduction of massive drum hits and guitar melodies that both takes the track to those deep depths as well as sending it soaring into the air, an atmospheric contrast that will send shivers down your spine.  The vocal harmonies are so lush, they aren't the main focus of the track but they come through and are delivered in a tender and composed way yet hold a striking tone that completely captivates you and pulls you in.  There is a charm that surrounds this song and the emotions that are poured into every aspect of the track is instantaneously felt, it is one of those tracks that creates such a relaxing and calming vibe, combined with an mysterious and eerie feel that puts you at ease as you listen and you just fall right into its comfort.
