Distant Images are an up and coming Glasgow based dreamy, Indie Rock duo made up of Macca and Jilly and they have recently dropped their stunning debut EP 'A Vision of Us'. They both bring different musical influences, Macca who plays the guitar, bass and keyboard with backing vocals, is more influenced by Rock and Progressive Rock bands like Pink Floyd and Biffy Clyro. Where Jilly who is the lead vocalist and additional keyboardist, is mostly influenced by Alternative, Shoegazer and Dream Pop, for example bands such as Blood Red Shoes, Talos and Mazy Star. They mention that "we started writing together at the start of lockdown and felt inspired to write the EP 'A Vision of Us' at a time where everything felt so uncertain. We wanted to create a dreamy and vibe sound".
'A Vision of Us' is made up of 5 breath-taking tracks, it is a beautifully crafted EP that combines rock and electronic elements to create a dream rock vibe, when you shut your eyes and listen to this EP all the way through, it completely takes you away from reality and into another world. There is beautiful melodic elements throughout the EP and heard in 'Underneath the Sun', and powerful instrumental moments heard in 'Stand Up', making you fall deep into this EP and you just want to play it on repeat over and over! 'Fragments' is the first single drop from the EP, the track continues the dreamy vibe, similar to 'Underneath the Sun' with the atmospheric guitars, the airy keys that sit just in the background create that peaceful and relaxing ambience. The vocals aren't in your face, but more melt in with the instrumental, giving the entire track a powerful pull that completely draws you in and you just can't seem to take yourself away from it!
