Tara Griffin x Charlie + Jake - She Wolves
This is a track that is meant to get inside your head. The spoken word approach to the lyrics really intensifies this song as Tara dives into womanhood, power and celebrating the multitudes that makes up the mosaic of womanhood “I will not be changed, instead I will make change”. The experimental approach to the instrumentation is both impactful and minimalistic, the music is really only there to lay the foundation and build the atmosphere to really push forward the passionate message.

King Rib - On Our Island
The Glaswegian solo artist Craig McIntyre released his second offering 'On Our Island' the title track of his EP. The track offers a gritty sound, one that is glazed with finger picked guitar melodies and a stomping rhythm that trundles through as Craig’s vocals bring an almost Beach Boys harmony style. There is a 60s psychedelic sound with with an Americana undercurrent, the acoustic guitars play in an almost woozy dreamlike way that completely sucks you in. The slow tempo, laid back groove brings a feeling of calm, there is a rustic edge through out and you can feel it in every element that shapes this track. Building in the intensity as the song pushes forward, with a heavily distorted moment happening at around 2 minutes in and it’s unexpected sound catches you off guard. At this point the vocals shift to the back, laden with reverb which pulls the instrumentation to the front creating an intense dreamlike section. There is no big melodic moments, just an easy grungy going song that gets under your skin.

This track takes the darker alt rock route, heavy in the bass line and drum beat with the guitars elevating the intensity of the atmosphere. The light percussive elements dance over the heaviness of the ricocheting toms and brings an essence of Bombay Bicycle Club. The track gradually becomes denser as the rhythm becomes thick with gritty guitar riffs bringing out an ominous vibe. Liam’s vocals just glide over the instrumental and never once getting overwhelmed, his strong and passionate vocal performance alongside the ferocious rhythm creates a fierce soundscape that completely captures you. There is a sense of anticipation that builds as the song progresses and you are unsure where the song will take you, which you are then instantly blown away by the instrumental rhythm section and the gritty guitar solo that commands your attention and anyone who is a fan of Foals will absolutely love.

Crystal Tides – Headcase
This track really does bring those indie rock vibes combined with fuzzy pop elements, absolutely certain to lift your mood. With the pop verses creating those warm melodic tones and then soars into an anthemic indie rock chorus that is 100% guaranteed to get you singing along. Those energetic guitar riffs run in sync with the vibrant drums which creates that upbeat danceable rhythm, filled with so much joy and passion. The vocals are smoothly sung as they enhance the tracks atmosphere with the passion and heartfelt delivery from Billy, which lyrically brings deeper undertones where he sings about being led on by someone who you can’t seem to get out of your head and you know that they are just playing with your feelings. There is also an exhilarating guitar solo towards the end that is just meant for the stage! Those euphoric uplifting instrumental moments and heartfelt lyrics, this is a song that you won’t forget.
