THE RANTS LIVE @ THE GARAGE (ATTIC BAR)
The 4 piece rock band The Rants took to the stage at The Garage (Attic Bar) on Saturday 30th May 2026 and they brought insane energy and fierce stage presence that fired through the entire crowd from start to finish. They are a band that have forged a sound destined for the arena stage and from their performance last night I will not be surprised that this happens very soon. The band is made up of Fionn Lyons (Vocals), Shay McDermott (Drums), Fraser Carstairs (Bassist) & Logan Murdoch (Guitarist). The night kicked off with support from Rowan McIver & Guevara really setting up the atmosphere for the night and amping up the crowd for the headliners.
Their huge sound took hold of the room quickly and from the first song 'M.O.Y' they had the crowd right in the palm of their hands. One aspect of each song that I particularly enjoyed was the way that they moved into each song and the way that they gradually built the energy, with force into these intense instrumental moments, it was explosive and pulled you right into the track with them. The guys continued that force and fire as they belted out tracks like 'No Point', 'IVY', 'You Said' & 'What We Are'. There was a slight sound issue, but the guys handled it brilliantly and created some fun interaction with the crowd. As we got to the middle of the set, this is where the guys toned the energy down briefly for their song 'Old Red Kite', this track was a particular favourite of mine from the setlist, really enjoyed that pulled back sound where it was the vocals and guitars for the majority of the song, gradually bringing in the rest of the band and the harmonies as well.
That energy still ever present, just with a touch of calm. They then followed with a cover of 'Iris' by the Goo Goo Dolls, sparking a crowd singalong. They then launched right back into that high energy with 'Fly' a track that does exactly that, it's soaring sound ricochet through the venue. As the end of the set was approaching the energy did not falter, the band performed their track 'Lois Lane', the final track before the encore, where they returned to perform 'Blue' & 'Skydance' and ending the set on a high, doing what they do so incredibly well, they lean into that gradual build up, emotional lyrics and then launches right into that grungy, guitar heavy, drum driving instrumental breaks. The energy these guys have, really did seep through from the vocals to the drums and guitars, they are electric and as I have mentioned before, these guys are moving towards big things, their sound is certainly a force and you need to get this band added to your playlist and the get along to see them live.
