TBIRD, RICO FRANCHI - MARIANA (ALL FOR THE THRILL) // SINGLE REVIEW
Now this is a song that you will recognise if you are a fan of The Imagineers. The Glasgow based artist Tbird (producer and multi-instrumentalist Tommy Phillips) brings his reworked and reimagined version of the track ‘Mariana’ turning the song into an atmospheric electronica sound with soaring vocals from Rico Franchi, the ethereal sounds from the synth pads heard at the beginning complimenting Rico’s voice perfectly. On the build up to the chorus you can hear those slight rock influences from the original track with subtle guitars riffs to begin that build up. We are then pulled into a powerful towering chorus with the appearance of a prominent drum machine accompanied with some deep bass synths that brings that depths to the track, arpeggiated synths panned both left and right in the mix adds the space and width to the track, creating that ambient landscape. The instrumentation does have some influences of tropical sounds particularly within the chorus, there are also some Latin influences that can be heard as well, it is subtle enough to be heard but not to be the main focus. The lyrics touch upon an elusive romance and the feeling of experiencing nightlife in a foreign city. A song that is a definite ‘on repeat’ type of song, you just can’t get enough of the chorus and it just keeps pulling you back to it.
