The Sunderland 5 piece Docksuns formed in January of 2019 and since then have dived head first into the music industry.  Playing at local festivals Sounds of Sunderland and The Sunderland Airshow, they also sold out their EP launch which seen a 300 strong attendance, followed by back to back appearances on BBC Introducing.  The band are definitely making a name for themselves through their consistent and solid songwriting and instrumentals.  With the return of live music just around the corner the guys are gearing ups for another run of shows in the north where they have become a household name especially in their hometown of Sunderland.

'So Cold Love' is one of those songs that right from the moment you first hear it you just know it is going to be an indie anthem.  The track builds on their previous release 'Blew Up A Kiss' and follows this similar pattern of honest and relatable lyrics as they reminisce about a past relationship that they broke away from.  'So Cold Love' is the progression from the previous track and a side that the band were keen to explore and dive into another chapter of their ever evolving sound.

The track begins with a synth swell that quickly introduces a massive drum hit then right into a grungy guitar melody, that soon becomes the notable melody at the chorus and one that will get you up on your feet ready for a dance.  The driving tempo at the intro certainly lays the foundation for what to expect from this track.  The intensity from the full drums and the guitar rhythms fall away as the verse introduces Jame's edgy and catchy vocals as they are accompanied by a pulsing drum and bass line.  With the melodies from the gritty guitar tones and psychedelic guitar tones giving the track that shimmer atmosphere as they dance over the top.  The switch between the deep grungy vibes in the verse to a soaring pre chorus that builds the chorus up nicely as we hear the same guitar melody from the beginning making its anticipated return at the instrumental break.  The second verse becomes thicker and tighter rhythmically as the instrumentation takes a heavier tone, the low undertones from the fuzzy bass line sit comfortably underneath the melodic elements and when you combine those atmospheric melodies with the groove, it creates a song bursting with energy and colour, but one that has a cool demeanour that sinks itself into you and not doesn't let go.  The way in which each section glides so effortlessly into one another makes this an incredibly catchy and unforgettable listen.  If you are a fan of Catfish and the Bottlemen then you will instantly become a fan of these guys.
