FESTIVAL ANNOUNCEMENT - RIVFEST 2021
The festival will see the likes of Hacienda DJ Graeme Park, Everything Everything and Abi Rose Kelly headlining over the weekend. With acts such as The A.V Club, Pizzagirl, Hadda Be, The Zangwills amongst many more also on the line up throughout the weekend.
The festival was set up by the River Reeves Foundation after the tragic death of Warrington band Viola Beach. The 2021 event is also a celebration which marks 5 years since Viola Beach posthumously reached #1 in the UK Albums Chart.
Hacienda legend Graeme Park kicks off the festival on the Friday. Following his genre-bending Hacienda Classical series with the Manchester Camerata Orchestra, Park live streamed his Hacienda House Party to millions of people during lockdown. The Friday night launch will feature an exclusive set of tunes handpicked from his 30 year DJ career, with a few guest DJs also making an appearance throughout the evening, this will be a much welcomed return of the nightlife that we have all missed.
The Saturday brings a line up of some of the most hotly tipped new acts from across the country, performing alongside headliners Everything Everything. The Mercury Prize and Ivor Novello nominees will be treating the audience to tracks from their critically acclaimed fifth studio album 'RE-ANIMATIOR', alongside their legendary back catalogue.
Joining Everything Everything are Rivfest favourites indie powerhouse Eliza & The Bear, Liverpool based upside-down dreampop act Pizzagirl, Brighton based indie math-pop act Orchards, Hebden Bridge quartet The Lounge Society, Lincoln trio The Rills, Modern Sky's Abbie Ozard, the shoegazing indie pop crossover sounds of Hadda Be, Brighton fuzz pop Beach Riot, Liverpool based More In Luv, Manchester's FoxGlove and All Night Dining, all taking to the stage on the Saturday.
The Sunday will see RivFest showcasing local talent from across the North West, headlined by the Glastonbury Emerging long listed grunge pop singer Abi Rose Kelly. Alongside Abi are indie rock acts The Zangwills, Satyr Play, Aligners and 32Tens, Electro pop band The A.V Club and breezy indie pop singer Jessica Luise, Solis, psych pop artist Seagoth, Sienne, Liam Hillyer, Two Skies, Rivver, The Kendo's and singer Kerry Feeney.

Many of the local acts on the line up for this years festival have been awarded bursaries from the River Reeves Foundation. Over the next 12 months, the charity will award another 50 grants of up to £500 to support young people and those from disadvantaged backgrounds achieve their artistic ambitions. Previously the festival has seen acts such as Fickle Friends, Billy Bragg, The K's, Maximo Park, Average Sex and The Lottery Winners all performing.
