INLAND MURMUR

Inland Murmur are a Cardiff based indie rock band.  Made up of Hannah on vocals & bass, Toby on vocals, guitar & drums and Alan on guitar.  The band take their inspiration and influences from the Welsh countryside of singer Toby Llewellyn's home and the hustle and bustle of city life, Inland Murmur's music treads a line from ambient nostalgia to indie crunch, releasing their debut single 'Icarus' in 2020, they have now released their follow up single 'Waterline' and the band continue to play shows in and out of London.

'Waterline' is an emotionally charged indie rock song that is a reflection of grief and how nature and landscapes helped the band deal with the early lockdown in 2020.  The track brings a whirlwind of shimmery and bright guitar melodies, that will give you those shoe gaze/pshycedelic vibes.   Subtle strummed acoustic guitars, which then gradually moves into a rocking bass line and a driving drum beat.  There is a delicateness and a smoothness to the instrumentation, the track doesn't quite tilt towards the heavier rock side but there is elements weaved throughout, heard mostly at the choruses when the song fires into a strong pulsing rock section.  There is a little bit of everything in this track, some indie, a little bit of pop and a hint of heavy rock.  The vocals sit back in the mix, which for a track of this tempo and rhythmic style you feel like the the vocals should go full force, yet the holding back fits well and allows the instrumentation to take the lead, the chorus was made for dancing and will no doubt get feet filling the floor. Hannah and Toby's vocals both flow so well together, with Toby bringing the low range and Hannah bringing the higher range, and both complement each other without overpowering each other.  This is a track that has a driving energy as well as a chilled out vibe.  This is the band's second single and they are ready to unleash their indie groove into the world, so get these guys on your radar.
