TEOSE
Teose are an indie rock 3 piece made up of Melissa (guitar/vocals), Sean (bass) and Jordan (drums). The band began their journey into the Glasgow music scene in 2019 where they first started out gigging. Since then they have released an album and played a variety of shows, including a support slot for the sold out Pillow Queens gig. Through out 2020 the band have been working on their music to ensure that they deliver high quality content, which they certainly have done with the release of their recent single 'Picture Myself'. They bring honest and direct lyrics, with a well crafted and defined sound. These guys have definitely set 2021 off with a bang.
'Picture Myself' is one of those tracks that hits hard with those 90s/early 2000s influenced indie rock/punk vibes, with the deep bass line, grungy guitar riffs and tight drum beat driving the track, with the vocals cleanly layered over the top. Lyrically you go through the emotional journey along with Melissa. The song leads with a sombre and more serious tone in the verse's, the instrumentation is dark with Melissa singing about a lack of confidence and worth within ones self "I picture myself at thirty years old on my own", the tone changes to a more uplifting positive and optimistic outlook at the chorus. "I don't feel like this anymore" rings out in a repetitive motion and in a building fashion that will get the crowd belting it out. The music lifts getting more intense as it changes to surging choruses and a gritty guitar riff that fills your ears in the middle 8 section of the track, that will get the crowds dancing. The way in which they have crafted their sound and the songs production makes each element so addictive and you just have to have it on repeat over and over. You will pick up on the lyrics so quickly, they will get stuck in your head and you will find yourself singing them well after you have finished listening to the song. This track oozes confidence, with a bold exterior which makes it hard not to see why Teose will quickly make a name for themselves and seamlessly slide into the Scottish indie rock scene very easily.
