Static Satellites are a four piece indie rock band from Glasgow/West Lothian. Made up of Ross Whelan (vocals/guitar), Ally Taylor (lead guitar), Sam Carlyle (bass) and Ciaran Boyle (drums). Their signature sound brings deep rich vocals and catchy indie pop riffs, which has gained lots of attention and they have been likened to artists such as Two Door Cinema Club, The Strokes and The National. The band formed in 2018 and have rarely stood still, releasing 5 singles to date and having announced their upcoming EP dropping in May. They have headlined the famous King Tut's in Glasgow and played across Scotland supporting acts such as Red Rum Club, Luke La Volpe and Voodoo Bandits.
'The Symphony' is the latest track from the band, which features on their upcoming debut EP 'The Dark Unfolds'. The anthemic indie pop track includes those rich vocals, loaded guitar riffs and catchy melodies which will have you performing your best air guitar impressions. Beginning with a vigorous drum beat, setting the scene and pace for the track, soon joined by atmospheric guitar riffs. There is a contrast of feelings from the instrumental and the vocals, the energy that comes from those soaring guitar riffs and drumbeat makes you feel uplifted, while the vocals tug at your emotions heightening the atmosphere that reflects the song's story of a relationship that looks good on paper but after spending time in person together you realise that it's not meant to be. Ross's heart wrenching vocal tone and passionate delivery gets right under your skin and brings out those melancholic undertones of the entire song. The bitter sweet moments sway between those familiar rock sounds and pop melodies, gradually becoming heavier as the track progresses and reaches an epic instrumental break, with a shredding guitar solo closing out the track and guaranteed to rip up the dance floor. This is storming track that gives listeners a little taster of what to expect from the EP and I think we are really in for a treat.INSTAGRAM - staticsatellites
