Fiona Liddell - Cover To Cover

Fiona Liddell (one half of electronic music duo Gefahrgeist) has been working on a charity project titled 'Cover To Cover', the project's main purpose is to highlight the underrepresentation of female artists in Scottish music industry.  The project was sparked by the lack of female artists on Spotify's 'Scotify' playlist, which Fiona noted that 68.5% of the artists on the playlist were male with some of them having more than one track featured.  She created 'Cover To Cover' in a bid to uplift her fellow female artists and to return the power to artists away from gatekeeping companies such as Spotify.

The project comes in the form of a collaborative album, which will feature thirteen of Scotland's top female artists, with thirteen covers of original tracks releasing between February 5th to the end of April 2021, releasing as a full album on the 5th of March to raise money for Scottish Women Inventing Music (SWIM).  The album will be exclusively available to purchase on Bandcamp on release day and anyone who would like to support the project before release can do so by pre-ordering the albumand will receive a preview of the first cover of singer - songwriter Jen Ella's 'Lipstick Queen' by Gefahrgeist.

You can pre-order the album HERE

The tracklist features covers from Gefahrgeist, Jen Ella, Sarya, Olivia Thom, Ceiti, Amie Huckstep, Mima Merrow, Post Coal Prom Queen, Chiara Baillie, PINLIGHT, Jen Athan, Francesca Ortisi and Aurora Engine.

Fiona has become an advocate for artists in 2020. Utilising her relationships and engaging with other musicians in her immediate community and online, creating several projects and established a strong support system in an industry that has suffered deeply as a result of the pandemic.  She is a champion of new music and her #shoutoutsaturdays series shares a collection of new and established talent showcasing Scotland's unique and diverse music scene.
