DICTATOR

Dictator are a 4 piece indietronica band from the central belt of Scotland, the guys take a lot of their inspiration from classic artists such as Primal Scream and The Charlatans to modern acts like Gorillaz, The XX and Alt J.  The band blend and fuse together elements of electronica with, psychedelic guitar solos and groove-filled beats.  They bring heartbreaking ballads and foot stomping indie anthems, nothing is off limits when it comes to their sonic manifesto.  The guys are pushing the boundaries of their music, defying all labels and expectations and creating their very own unique sound.  With a focus on a visceral live experience, every live show is more of an 'experience' than a gig and every song being an invitation into the lives, emotions and characters of the band.  Despite not being able to perform due to the current circumstances, the guys have continued to release music and growing their fanbase in Scotland and beyond.  Even adding some A-list celebrity fans like actor Robert Carlyle, professional footballer Simon Donnely and musical peers Glasvegas, The Snuts and Kieran Webster of The View.  Their latest release 'Moonlight' was recorded by Edinburgh based producer Mark Morrow and produced by award winning producer Liam Doc, this track brings something a little different from the guys and it shows that they are not a band that will categorise themselves to the one genre.

'Moonlight' will certainly pull at your heartstrings, it is emotional, it is atmospheric and it is haunting, the guys are ready to break your heart with this track.  Beginning with spine chilling vocals rich in reverb to create that large haunting empty space sound which is so powerful you are sucked right into the melancholy vibes, calming delivery and those velvet vocal tones.  There is a faint piano/keys melody in the background that only heightens the atmosphere even more.  As the song continues this is where the build up starts becoming more intense and the split moment of complete quiet in the middle of the track, where the vocals ring out creating this eerie emotional moment and you are just completely captivated.  This then introduces the drums, there is no vigorous beat instead it is completely laid back and so calming,  bringing an uplifting feeling that as soon as you hear it you know the song is in no hurry at all and immerses you fully into the stunning melodies and powerful vocals.  The track, although melancholy in style, radiates a warmth and glow where you feel completely relaxed and comfortable within it.  'Moonlight' will definitely melt your heart.  When the guys were asked about the track they mentioned "Moonlight is about revelling in the nostalgia of our youth.  Getting drunk for the first time and on the cusp of our first experiences with love and relationships.  It's a reflection on simpler times and an appreciation on what we've come through to get to where we are...".
