AMA JANE

Ama Jane is the artist name of Scottish singer-songwriter Amanda J Williams.  The guitarist for Say Award nominated TeenCanteen, Ama has performed across various music festivals including T in the Park, Edinburgh International Festival, Electric Fields and Kendall Calling.  Her latest track 'Old Flames' is the third release from a new body of work (5 years spent writing, recording and refining her eclectic bold pop sound.  Her previous releases 'Boy' and 'NyQuil' have both received attention and airplay from the likes of Amazing Radio, BBC Radio Scotland, Cam Glen Radio, Giro MPB (Brazil) and BBC Introducing to name a few.  'Old Flame' was written during the beginning stages of lockdown, allowing Ama to reflect and depict and illusion of past relationships.  Her imagination creates an alternative ending for those relationships.  It is based on Ama finally getting her revenge on all those so called bad boys who screwed her over, by writing her own happy ending. 

'Old Flame' seamlessly connects electro pop and grungy rock, a combination that flows so incredibly well through this song.  The verses bring a rhythm drenched in funky grooves and melodies,  with a bass line driving those low ends that will most definitely get you moving.  Exploding into a soaring chorus injected with grungy rock elements from the guitar and a vigorous driving drum beat, you will go from dancing your way through the verses to jumping around at the chorus.  The change in tonality and delivery from Ama is flawless, delivering smooth pop-esque style vocals on the verses to then changing it up in the chorus to powerhouse rock style vocals becoming more intense and gritty with a fierce delivery that commands your attention, getting stuck in your head.  The bridge is where the rhythm changes and that sudden change from a forceful rock beat to a reggae style beat brings that element of surprise and perfectly connects the second and third chorus, something that listeners will not be expecting but will absolutely love!  This whole track has so much charisma and attitude, filled with so much personality from Ama which makes it completely unique to her style and sound.  This will definitely send the crowd wild!
