JUSTBOY

Inverness singer-songwriter Justboy aka Dale Sutherland of alt rock duo Alkanes, drops his incredible debut single 'Better Off'.  Inspired by indie-rock artists such as City and Colour, Bon Iver and Hozier.  Justboy's soulful vocal delivery and atmospheric songwriting captures the vulnerability of his lyrics.  'Better Off' is produced by Steve Bull and mastered by Chris Waite, with the drums performed by Connor Meeks also of Alkanes.  

'Better Off' was written shortly after a long term relationship came to an end, exploring that bittersweet nature of letting that person go.  The lyrics gracefully balance the pain and remorse of telling that person that it is over, with the confidence of looking ahead and knowing that the decision was for the best.  You can hear those raw emotions and feelings in his voice hitting you so strongly, you feel exactly what Dale is feeling and every word is coming from a place so personal, so heartfelt that you know he means every word he sings.  Accompanied by straight forward instrumental of natural sounding guitars and drumbeat, no filters or effects can be heard which really makes everything about this track feel completely organic and natural, and it pulls you in.  The track begins light with only a single acoustic guitar rhythm, the track then builds gradually on its intensity, to a captivating crescendo alongside the building passion and heart-wrenching delivery from Dale, making it a song that will stick with you and many will relate to.
