VANSLEEP - STARGAZER
Aberdeen indie rockers Vansleep are back with their latest track 'Stargazer', which is the last single from their debut 3 track EP 'You Should Have Said Something' which also features 'Chambers' and 'Acid Weather'. The guys are definitely leaving their mark on the music scene with their sound that oozes their own take on high energy rock, melodic guitar riffs, driving drums and injecting dark undertones into their lyrics. You just find yourself coming back time and time again.
'Stargazer' shows the continual growth and journey of their sound as they begin to refine and hone in on their style. This is their most exploratory work to date, leading them to a more experimental sound that both contrasts 'Chambers' and 'Acid Weather' in the best possible way! As well as pulling together elements from each to create a track that is packed with an abundance of character making it so recognisable as a Vansleep song. The track begins with a guitar melody that is tinted with a melancholy feel, accompanied by the dark emotive tone from Kyle, with the lyrics detailing a suppressed anger and his vocals expressing an effort to verbalise a sort of revenge against someone or something. The verses are pulled back, with the instrumental sitting back slightly allowing the hard hitting vocals to be the main focus. Then building to an powerful chorus where all elements punch through, elevating the track with soaring guitar melodies, blistering drums and the low bassline that brings out the tracks low end depths. An addictive anthemic track that you will find yourself singing along to and will no doubt be adding it to your playlist.
These guys are definitely a force to be reckoned with and I look forward to seeing where 2021 takes them!
