On first listen to 'Settle' there is an hint of the recent The 1975 sound about this track, the wide scattered array of sounds, the amount and use of space allows all these sounds like the vocal drones, Rhode Keys and synths to shine through, to create an atmospheric soundscape. The light use of the instrumentation as well as the delicate delivery of each makes this track extremely pleasing and easy listening, especially for when you are looking to just unwind at the end of the day. The drums and the bassline groove are the core elements keeping the beat and allows the track to flow smoothly. The gradual build with the subtle addition of more intense keys takes the track to the uplifting crescendo and then releases it to bring it to a satisfying end. The aura that surrounds 'Settle' is so warm and inviting that you feel instantly at home within. So sit back, take a breath and relax.
Rufus on 'Settle': “During lockdown I found it too easy to let myself be overwhelmed with worry and not look after my wellbeing. I slid into bad habits, too much tv, and not enough sleep. Recognising I needed a change, I made a commitment to do more things that would make me feel healthier. I started cycling; I rediscovered my love of camping; I learned how to cook better. That positivity in turn made me more motivated and eventually I worked myself out of the hole I was in. “Settle” refects that feeling of being your own source of contentment and wellbeing.”
