PRIMES

 

Falkirk 3 - piece Rock band Primes formed in 2017 after Ollie (Vocals, Bass), Sarah (Guitar) and Reece (Drums) became friends within their local music scene.  Their latest releases have gained the attention from the likes of BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, The sun Newspaper, The Scotsman Newspaper and also have been play-listed by Spotify's editorial team.  Having sold out shows in their hometown of Falkirk, the band ventured into Glasgow and Edinburgh to establish themselves within the Scottish music scene.  This has seen them on festival lineups such as Party At The Palace, Vibration Festival, ButeFest, Rewind Festival and Soopmas 2020 Virtual Festival for Dragon Soop.  Their latest release 'Shangri-La' reached number 29 in the iTunes Rock chart and the track is another slice of what to expect from these guys as they prepare for their debut EP release.      

One thing that Primes do which has become a noticeable trait within their music, is the compelling melodic riffs at the beginning of the majority of their songs from the electric guitar/bass guitar. Latest single 'Shangri-La' begins with a guitar riff that has a slight hint of the 2000s pop rock guitar riffs.  The gritty vocals from Ollie adds that edgy rock vibe, on top of the pulsing groove of the bassline, the hugely catchy electric guitar hook and punchy driven drums makes this an absolute sing at the top of your lungs anthem that projects a huge sound fitting for arenas or stadiums.  The harmonies that are heard throughout the song widen the tracks depth and the listening experience,  making it an extremely memorable song that you can't get out of your head and have to have it on repeat.  It is the perfect blend of pop rock and you want to hear more of what else these guys are brewing up.  The band are leaving their own mark in the music scene and this track showcases the growth within the bands sound, with their confidence shining through as they explore different sonic territory.

As the saying goes, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. ‘Shangri-La’ explores the truth behind the fairytale and the reality that some people unfortunately don’t have a happily ever after. Life can be tough, it will throw you curveball, it’ll beat you down and it’s not always rainbows and butterflies. What makes us keep going? It’s hope. Hope that the future holds something better and It’s exactly within those moments that life becomes exciting, interesting and makes the good times even sweeter."
