OWEN GIBSON

Owen Gibson is an Aberdeen based pop artist, who originally took an acoustic singer/songwriter route.  Owen now writes catchy hooks and melodies from his bedroom often working with his close friends or his brother to transform them into upbeat pop tracks, heard with the first initial release of 'Two Left Feet' in 2019.  Owen has revamped the track, taking it back to his original acoustic route, with the Neo 80s sound he has been working on throughout lockdown.  Owen has spent the last few years writing and performing in various cities across the UK, such as Aberdeen, Edinburgh and York, over these years he has played many headline gigs and supporting artists such as Katie Mackie and Beta Waves.  'Two Left Feet' was his first step into his pop direction, taking influences from artists such as Robyn, Sigrid and Alphabeat.  The self produced track was launched at a Edinburgh gig in 2019, along side other up and coming Scottish artists.

The acoustic version of 'Two Left Feet' brings a more chilled out vibe compared to the full synth pop version.  This version completely flips the track from the get up and dance to a more gripping sound, stripping back to piano, guitar, cello and some synth elements, all compliment his vocals nicely. No drums are heard which again changes the whole atmosphere of the song, replacing them with the melodies of the piano, cello and guitar,  you hear this particularly at the chorus where each instrument takes on the low tones and bassline, allowing Owen's vocals to come through and glide smoothly over the top.  They all align together perfectly to create a stunning track.  Owen's vocals are filled with pure passion and emotion, making it so captivating to listen to.  The track explores the themes of love and lust and how the lines between them can be blurred by alcohol, Owen mentions "I'm sure most people have found themselves in a situation with someone in which they become more invested than the other person is.  The song depicts what it's like to deal with these feelings and hoe it can bring on a sense of loneliness in day to day life".  The track tugs on those sombre undertones, but the warmth that exudes from the rich instrumentation (a nod to his classical roots) and the same pop driven melodies heard in the original create an uplifting, heartfelt track that will leave you eager to hear what else Owen has to come in the future.
