LIV DAWN

 

Loch Lomond based singer/songwriter Liv Dawn brings her latest release 'Welcome Home', which was released in 2020.  Liv was selected as a finalist in the prestigious BBC Radio Scotland's Singer/Songwriter of the Year Award in 2019, where she showcased her talent at the live award final held at Saint Luke's in Glasgow.  'Welcome Home' lead her to the final and during the the awards Liv gained radio play on BBC Radio Scotland's Morning with Kaye Adams and The Afternoon With Grant Scott a swell as being invited on the show to perform 'Welcome Home' live.  Liv has also gained lots of coverage from the BBC, Scottish Field, Daily Record, Alive and Gigging and The Observer.  

A year later within the duration of lockdown Liv created a fuller version of 'Welcome Home'  from her home studio set up, bringing in strings performer Eslpeth Mackay, who crafted the cello arrangement along with Gus Harrower who recorded the piano part to compliment Liv's vocals.  Both Gus and Eslpeth were part of the Singer/Songwriter Award and Liv wanted to involve individuals who were part of the awards, in the creative process to highlight the special connection between her song and the award.

'Welcome Home' is a little slice of acoustic heaven where pop meets country.  As soon as you hear the gentle and inviting melody of the acoustic guitar you just melt right into it's warm ambience.  That feeling is only amplified more when the piano and violin melodies join and they wrap themselves delicately around the guitar allowing Liv's stunning vocals to shine through and just glide over the top.  The song tells the story of a friend returning home who Liv hasn't seen for a long time, and she asks if that time apart has changed them.  The single touches on mental health, the importance of looking after oneself and growing as a person.  The powerful and emotional lyrics combined with Liv's passion and raw delivery truly creates a breathtaking song.  An incredibly written piece of music that anyone who listens will feel right at home.
