INVISIBLE WIRE

Invisible Wire are a London based 3 piece band made up of a Yorkshireman and two Glaswegians.  The guys have recently released their powerful EP 'The Useful Idiots', the EP incorporates different elements of rock, from Alternative/Indie Rock, to hints of Acid and Garage Rock intertwined with undertones of electronic, to create 3 fully immersive atmospheric tracks.

The opener is the title track 'The Useful Idiots' filled with so much character,  it's noisy and lively tone is a formidable energy, from the electric guitar riff with the undeniably recognisable wah effect and overdriven groove of the bass line will without a doubt get your head bopping.  I love how the track begins with the reverse guitar effect, it grabs your attention straight away as you do not expect it and gives the track an eerie atmosphere that is present throughout, making it an unforgettable listen.  That unshakable eerie feeling is only intensified more with the vocal harmonies particularly in the verse, underneath the main vocal line there is a low almost faint vocal and even though you can't hear it clearly, you can feel it.  The ethereal piano notes that are heard from the second verse onwards, bring that added airy atmosphere combined with the eerie atmosphere creates a captivatingly haunting track.

The next track 'Shadow Play' is lighter in it's texture, but by no means any less atmospheric, in fact I would say this track has an even more haunting tone than 'The Useful Idiots'.  The vocals stand out more in this one, how they are delivered with the grittiness, whispering and use of reverb especially on the lyric "Shadow Play".  Against the delicate but slightly off kilter guitar melody those eerie and haunting vibes come through strong.  When the bass line comes in this is where the track gains such a depth, that with the eerie tone of the track you are completely entranced.

The final track 'Silver Dub' is instrumentally more upbeat, leaning towards electronic with the heavy bass line driving the track, the synth melodies sit in the background and aren't intense or forceful, they are the delicate ambience that allows the deep drum beat and those haunting vocals to come to the front.  The guitars can be subtly heard throughout with a large amount of effects on them and sitting in the background alongside the synths to create that vast eerie atmosphere that is, from listening to this EP their signature and defining sound.

This EP is an experience that you need to listen to, if you are looking for a sound that is unusual and captivating then you need to listen to these guys!
