AIRPORT IMPRESSIONS

With this one we are heading to Malta, to bring you alternative rock 4 piece Airport Impressions!  Becoming one of the most successful bands to emerge from Malta, the guys are ready to bring their music to a new and wider audience!  Their music incorporates different elements of rock, pop, and folk and continue to deliver incredibly melodic and emotive songs.  They take their inspiration from major rock acts of the last few decades including U2, The Killers and Mumford & Sons, to name a few!  They bring deep, passionate, raw vocals and create impactful and compelling performances!  The band has had several line up changes since forming in 2008, with Errol Sammut (lead vocals, guitar) being the only original remaining member. Over the years, Daniel Genius (bass, backing vocals), Ryan Margo (guitar) and Daryl Curmi (drums, percussion) have all joined the band to replace former members.  They bring their latest single 'Light Years' and if this is your first time hearing these guys then this track is the perfect introduction to the band!

As soon as you hear 'Light Years' you feel instantly uplifted with the instrumental and those familiar gritty raw rock vocals, that just pulls you in to this song.  The spacious instrumental creates the incredible atmosphere that will give you chills and a feeling of comfort.  The subtle guitars heard at the beginning set the beautiful tone of this track and you just know that it is going to be delivered with a lot of passion and emotion.  The full low bass (reminding me slightly of the bassline heard in 'Madness' by Muse) and deep drums kick in, add to the depth of the track and build on that uplifting state of mind.  It then opens up to the anthemic chorus, that will have you closing your eyes and singing at the top of your lungs!  There is a passion heard in Errol Sammut's delivery of the lyrics, you can feel the personal meaning they have for him, as well as being a song for listeners to find comfort in the warmth of the lyrics and feel at ease. 

 Sammut mentions that "although the song was written in late autumn of 2017, after quite a break from songwriting due to band lineup changes, it is amazing how much it fits this strange year we are still transgressing.  The global pandemic has changed lives for all of us no matter which part of the world we inhabit, creating unwanted social divisions between family members, friends etc.  I feel 'Light Years' is a good reminder that no matter how far apart we are, we can still keep our best moments together in life... applying the advice received or viewpoints shared.  It also depicts a lot how I personally look at the main journey, ie: the lyrics "hungry little soul... for a little piece of everything", meaning always aiming to improve/better what I already have."
