VANSLEEP

Alternative indie rock band Vansleep from Aberdeen, made up of Kyle MacRitchie (Vocals & Guitar), Bryn Mclernon (Bass), Bilal Benzahia (Drums) and Kier Smith (Guitar).  They are shaking up the Scottish music scene with their high energy sound. The 4 - piece have been making a name for themselves in the local scene, playing all around Scotland supporting bands such as The Dunts, Forgetting The Future, Dancing On Tables, Folda, Cats With Glasses, Black Tiles plus many many more. They have also made appearances at House Of Jack music festival, Edinburgh Indie Freshers and Belladrum festival to name a few. Building on this catalogue of performances, whether it is their own headline show, supporting another band or playing a festival, it really shows the passion and commitment they have as a band to create a buzz and get people talking!

The band have been actively releasing music since 2018, raking in an astonishing 180,000 streams on Spotify, with releases such as 'Get Up and The Way You Move'. Their latest single 'Chambers' released on the 14th August, will no doubt increase the number of streams and interest for these guys. The band have dived in deeper with 'Chambers' both lyrically and instrumentally. Compared to their previous releases such as ‘Acid Weather’ and ‘Streetlights'. 'Chambers' feels more emotional and one that I feel people will click with instantly when they first hear this track. This song sounds like it will be a belter to hear live and send the crowd wild!

The song starts out pretty mellow with just guitar and vocals, giving us heart wrenching lyrics like "It's just no matter what I do I always seem to find a way to let you down".  The drums come in shortly after and this is when the track starts to build.  You just know this is building to a banging chorus. Then we arrive at the chorus, and the song opens up into an absolute anthem! The guitars are panned both left and right, with the drums and vocals centre creating plenty of space for each part to come through just nicely! This is just an all-round great atmospheric track. As soon as you hear these guys you instantly want to listen to more of their music!

I am excited to see where these guys are heading and to see them grow as band! The quality of music they are releasing at this stage really does show how passionate they are and ready to make their mark on the Scottish music scene with their sound. I will definitely be making sure I attend their gigs in the (hopefully) not so distant future! Check them out below ↓
