SCOTTY J

London based singer-songwriter Scotty J brings his latest single 'Two & Eight'.  He takes his influences for his music from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie along side many other indie bands and artists.  The track itself has been heavily influenced by inspirational male and female artists like Stevie Nicks, David Bowie and Elton John.  Which you can hear those influences coming through in his music, from the raw musical sound of David Bowie to the lyrical and vocal edginess of Stevie Nick, to the acoustic atmosphere of Ed Sheeran.  Scotty is raring to get his sound and music out to the world and leave his own mark on the music scene.

'Two & Eight' is a raw acoustic track, with only a guitar and Scotty's vocals, instantly grabbing you and pulling you in.  As there is only an acoustic guitar for accompaniment, you focus right in on Scotty's vocals, the lyrics and the story that he is telling.  There is an edginess and a smoothness to his vocal tone that is cleanly sung as well as cuts through to the listener, making them hard to forget.  This isn't a track that dives in to the complexity of music production but more focuses into its simplicity of the sound textures and atmosphere.  Scotty wants you to focus in on his lyrics and the story.  The Cockney slang draws you in and heightens the atmosphere, and you find yourself putting it back on repeat.  The track was written in December 2020 about the current Covid-19 pandemic and how he and the rest of us have had to adapt to the new normal.  There is also feelings of hope and optimism in his lyrics "and we'll get through this, I know we will" bringing a positive outlook for the future.  Scotty incorporates the Cockney rhyming slang into the song as well as the song title, with the lyrics relating to his upbringing and love for London and the culture.
